Dear Mrs. Rice:
I am writing you regarding Jill Carroll, the Christian Science Monitor reporter held in Iraq since January. I've been torn between wanting to protect the mental atmosphere surrounding Jill Carroll and just being plain angry (again) at this administration.
I understand that you do not negotiate with terrorists. Fine. How 'bout releasing the names and charges against every woman the US is currently holding in Iraq, making sure each woman detainee has been charged, has half the legal representation of Saddam Hussein, and that we have open, legal justification for holding them?
Clearly, this administration knows how Muslims feel about the detention of women and they are using that to threaten the "enemy," at the peril of this young journalist's life.
I'm not sure what would help Jill. But I sure am sick of MY GOVERNMENT not doing the decent human rights thing. The terrorists of 9/11 were attacking our freedoms, our support of decent human rights, and thanks to your administration, the terrorists have won.
Sincerely,
Blue Gal
